Cattery

The cattery Romanov is a family cattery located in Sainte-Sabine-de-Bellechasse, Quebec, Canada.

The cattery owes its name to Peter the Great Romanov, born June 9, 1672 in Moscow and died on February 8, 1725 in St. Petersburg. Peter the Great became the tsar of Russia in 1682 and received the title of emperor of all the Russians in 1721. He is the founder of St. Petersburg, the city which gave birth to the Peterbald breed.

The cattery Romanov is created and run by Larissa Prince. Russian and Canadian citizen.

Larissa has developed close ties with Russian and Canadian Peterbald breeders, enabling here to ensure the highest standards of quality at the cattery.

Larissa is passionate about cats and possesses an innate talent for breeding.

The cattery Romanov adopts and applies the highest standards of quality: close monitoring by veterinarians and animal health technicians, veterinary quality food.

Our cats and kittens do not live in closed cages or rooms, there is no overcrowding. In short, ideal conditions for the development of the Peterbald's engaging personality.

Our kittens are sold sterilized, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped and not declawed. The cattery does not encourage and does not provide any support for declawing. We believe that the amputation of the third phalanx of each finger of the cat is a cruel practice and that it is possible with a bit of nail trimming and good scratch poles to minimize or even eliminate the negative consequences of scratching.

And what about the name of cattery ? Why ROMANOV?

The peterbald breed was created in Sankt-Petersburg, Russia by breeder Tatiana Komarova and felinologist Olga Mironova.

The name of this breed was given by Olga Mironova in honnor of Russian Emperor Peter The Great.

So the first part of the name is Peter and she added bald.

She was inspired that by the monument of Peter The Great created by Michail Shemyakin where Peter The Great at his age of 50 and he is bald.

As Peter The Great was from royal dynasty of Romanov, we were inspired to take his last name to complete the sense of royalty and elegancy of this breed.

We try to find the old Russian names with nice meaning for our kittens.

To us the Peterbald is His Majesty!

Hope you feel the same be too!
